Under-Gravel Filter?

UGF and RUGF are the best filters out there for the money....to bad most aquarists do not know how to maintain them...
Absolutely as I used nothing but UGF before the dynaflo HOB filter with great sucess. Need a bit of patience but will provide what's needed to keep fish alive. Lacks chemical filtration although can add replaceable charcoal cartridges.
Cheap and best bio/mech filter when properly used. Detritus collected under the plates can be removed w/o taking the whole tank apart. Just need diy contraption.

Yea I agree that Undergravel filter don't work that great and I would never reccomend one in a breeding tank as the fry tend to settle in the gravel and get stuck in the undergravel filter.
Never seen that happen, even with Powerhead unless PH was really oversized. If PH was oversized for fry to get stuck b/n the gravel, I would say fry would not survive inside whirlpool to begin with. Just a thought!.
