a pet shop in my area just recently got a new wild betta in called Betta sp. "palangka" Does anyone know anything about these curious little wilds? It's a brick red and brown color and has vertical stripes. They're asking $23 for it.

It's a decent shop, they're a very small chain. Most of the fish appear healthy.
I that's what they are you should get a pair or two. It's very rare to so wild bettas in a pet store. My pet store carries betta imbellis and betta smaragdina.

I'll ask them if they can get another one to complete the pair.
Okay, here's the betta. I think it's a female. I'm going to see if I can get a discounted 6 gallon this weekend at an event my LFS is having.

I like it too! I think it's a female. Not too exciting in the color department, but rarity and behavior more than make up for it. Looks like I'm going to be an anabantoid specialist with the way things are going.
