AqAdvisor.com - WEB version of AquAdvisor

I just have one thing to say: THANK YOU! I haven't been on AC in months because I've been busy with school, but I came back to find this. Totally made my day (cuz now I can use it on my Mac and don't have to use mum's PC).

Oh, and I have one fish that's not on it. Swift rasbora, or Rasbora hengeli.

So I guess you tried my desktop version before. :)

I'll add your species in DB as well. Enjoy!

I have an idea for your website. I think you should be able to click a species so that we can quickly view if the species is compatible with out stock. Not sure where you'd put it but maybe have a small box below the species list and write stuff like scientific name, aggresion, and adult size. That's basically the quick things I look for when trying to figure out what fish to have.

Warning: Black Skirt Tetra will likely to fin nip Angelfish.

as with before, black skirts are not "likely" to nip the fins of my angel, especially if they are in a big enough school. i'd like to see where you got this information...

also, 4 is a large enough group for corydoras. you suggest 5, but one fish can mean the difference between keeping them in a certain sized tank or not.

personally, i also think that you should change the water changes to 25% at all times unless they were to go over whatever 25% at the current programing is.

Actually I've gotten quite a few suggestions similar to yours. Basically what's been requested is to build something that will suggest list of species based on the criteria you give. Criteria could be list of existing fishes (hence the new ones must be able to get along with them) along with some restrictions such as tank sizes, water parameters, etc.

That's fair. I personally never kept those so I cannot speak from my own experiences. I do remember reading an article where they nipped neons to death even though he/she had more than 5 but that could be a one-off event.

I do have a question though - if they were kept to less than say, 6, would they nip fins of other species such as Angels? If not, I might as well remove them from fin nipper list.

That's fair and you are right, especially in a small tank. I'll reduce them to 4.

You would want to do that even if you have 1 neon in a 55g tank? What would be the rationality behind this? Thanks. :)
