Mafia 59 - MAFIA WARS - The Play

It's too early in the game to be very sure of this yet and I know Bugz says she's busy, but I still feel she's trying hard to play a low-key game. Bugz has always sparked some controversy in previous games. Recently, her newer trend in playing style has become... taking a very cautious approach. To an extent that's understandable, given the blow ups in past games.... but this still doesn't fit her (more aggressive) personality.

Luv's random vote on Zaffy is probably about the most non-controversial step she could take.. hoping to avoid taking on the heavy hitters in the game.. counting on the fact that Zaff doesn't usually get all OMGUSSY on people who vote him.

I am driving my sister back to Chicago today I don't know when I will be home tonight so in fear that I will miss nightfall, I am going to place a random vote. I would hate to miss nightfall and have my vote go to a random mafia member next nightfall. I really don't have any suspects as of right now. I am not understanding the little tiff between Ice and Jpap. JL looks like he is sitting back and egging them on. Looks like normal first day stuff with this group I vote to lynch Zaffy.

Had Bugz gone on to explain why Zaffy makes a good random vote choice in her mind.. I wouldn't be as concerned right now. But she didn't. Yet, Bugz DID take the time to (1) explain why she won't be here, (2) justify making and leaving a random vote, (3) even make reference to the rules about votes not made going to a mafia players, and (4) to sum up her impression of the other most active players. This post was very thoroughly written and thought out. I see no (good) reason why Bugz wouldn't have had the time to simply say she's voting Zaffy at random because (state a reason) instead of voting anyone else she could have picked at random.

As an aggressive player trying to lie low and hide in the bushes early in the game is always a reasonable scum tell.

I vote to lynch LuvBugz.

JL, I wouldn't say my vote is all that "random" seeing as I gave a reason of sorts but more of a joke.

I have always thought of joke votes to be random or atleast without a valid reason.

Since the game has more mafia than innocents, there is a good chance that Ice is mafia (the same chance you, I and everyone has). So if Ice is lynched and comes up mafia, did you suspect him as being mafia or is it all a joke?

I think Ice's OMGUS vote on you is very curious and very much out of character. I don't think his vote on you is a joke.

Yes, it was a vote with a "joke" reason as opposed to a "random" vote on a player without an explanation other than it is random (see Kash's explanation of Luv's vote). Both are not valid but the presentation and thought process is different, in my mind. I may just be nitpicking...

However, I'm not saying Ice is mafia at this point nor did I think that when I placed the vote initially NOR when I quoted his post. His reaction was odd, so I agree with you there but not blatantly mafia-like. I threw an early joke vote and quoted a post of his saying I don't understand the logic...his reaction was if I had tried to get him lynched. I might put him ahead of the rest of the town on my watch list, but basically because there's nothing else going on.

If I had a clear cut suspect I would most definitely switch votes, but no one has done anything to catch my eye, other than froglover being horribly confused. If Ice comes up mafia, I wont be surprised given the chances, but seeing as there are three mafia teams I'm not going to claim innocence if that's part of what you are asking. The vote was still a joke, Ice overreacted, we argued over semantics, and here we are.

I don't like the whole "Rich Thoery" concept. Even if Dawg handed out the roles, I don't think rich would get a role for his name being loosely simular to ricardo. I also doubt Ice would do that either, even though he claims he might.

Joke: (go figure)...just poking fun at the fact that DD and I vote each other almost every game at some point.

Ice's vote does come off as OMGUS, but I think the crux of the argument was that we disagree on what exactly a random vote is...it's not like it's something set in stone so really it's just a matter of opinion. He's an aggressive player that likes to counter-attack instead of just getting defensive, if that makes any sense.

I am not trying to egg anyone on and I want to clear this up. I also don't think there is a "little tiff" and if you don't understand thier posts, you certianly haven't done anything to clear it up. My egging on is my attempt to understand their posts and to gather more information.

I retract my vote on rich3121k and vote to lynch Luvbugz.

Luv claims I am "egging them on", then claims it is normal first day stuff and then votes Zaffy. Odd that luv would not vote for me for trying to egg on two other players.

I also think Kash had some good insight on Luv also. Not that I trust her and generally long posts like that are big red flags to me.

Funny how it goes from joking to serious probing so quickly. I always feel a half a step behind you guys. I see nothing but normal play from everyone right now. I have no real clue on anyone yet. Guess we shall get some info as we get close to crunch time and votes start moving.

IMO I feel I have a small case against Jpap where he admits his vote is a joke vote. As seen in the quote below.
He then proceeds to say if he found something more concrete he would move there ( bolded statement below). Well isn't that what I said and got jumped on by Jpap? I admit I named a name and he didn't but the joking at that time was focused on Rich and I thought I'd join in.

The more I look at the posts above the more I like my vote. Jpap admits its not random so in essence is admitting he targeted me in post 16 a mere 1.5 hours into Day 1.
