I've been looking all day for a cheap way to put light on a 20g tall that I want to set up. I want to purchase a glass canopy and have some sort of strip light to set on it. My problem is that I don't really want to spend the money on a fancy actual aquarium light. I just can't seem to find online a shop style light that looks like it would work.

I'm just hoping for a nudge in the right direction or some help on what to look for. If you have some ideas or think this is a bad idea, I am open to that as well.

Thanks!

How much light do you want over the 20 gallon? I would think you could pick up a cheap shop light at home depot.

See, that's something that I really don't know the details of. I'd like to be able to grow some low light/low maintenance plants. I looked online for shop lights but I can't visualize them working quite right.

For the price of the Petsmart strip lights I'd probably be better off scrapping the glass top and just buying a hood. Maybe that's just a better idea altogether since this is only a 24" lid.
