Been a while since I posted on here. Wife and I are moving to Arizona in Feb and I've been authorized to finally create my dream reef aquarium.
I'm planning on a 300gal and I'm curious as to what my limits will be when stocking something this big?
I plan on getting the tank, getting it in place. Saving up and buying all the necessary equipment (protein skimmer, pumps, powerheads ect.)
Then once that is all plumbed and stable going after my live rock.

I thought it would be cool to include the community on this build. Get input for the type of equipment to buy, the lighting, the stocking, the coral and have the end result be a combined aquariacentral.com creation.

I'll be going with this tank http://glasscages.com/?sAction=OrderForm&sProdID=AQ_300Wide

Depending on the house we buy I might go for island setup or possibly a in wall design. I'd rather stay away from the classic stand.
What would you folks do?

Now I plan on doing this tank the right way sooo it might take me a year, two years, three years to get it finished, but we all know a tank is never finished. The updats might come slow and far between but I promise as soon as this beast gets rolling you won't be disappointed.
Looking forward to sharing this experience with you folks!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Oh man.. dream tank for sure!

Here is my biggest suggestion.. if your buying a house, and it is at all possible to do this, go with SolaTubes. Best growth AND coloration I have ever seen in a SPS reef tank is on one lit by 3 14" SolaTube from HomeDepot and some T5HO actinics. Plus, being in AZ in the summer with the heat you will need a GIANT chiller for that tank, with SolaTubes that need is dropped a ton. Still need a chiller, but instead of a 1HP chiller if you used MH lights you could get away with a 1/2HP chiller maybe (don't quote me on that, hate for you to get a 1/2 and not be enough during the summer months)

300 gallon.... jealous! thats gonna be be amazing!

This will definately be a thread to follow!

I would go for the inwall setup rather than the island.

If you do decide on the island, I'm figuring you won't keep the overflows where the site suggests now?
