Shrimp... to count or not to count?

I wouldn't suggest a frog for that tank. It is a bit too tall for them, since they go up to the top for air every once in a while.

I'd also agree that a frog in tank that tall is a bad idea.
If you're hoping to get them to breed , I'd agree that 10 shirmp is a better way to go, unless you can accuratly sex them. They are a bit hard to find in stores and tend to be expensive- ($7 for a RCS??) However there are a lot of people on here that sell them for about a buck, I buy from Ronw007 , I'll actually be making a pickup this weekend :) Bob's Tropical Plants sells them for $1.50 each, as well as some plants, all on the cheap.

Isn't shipping for them really expensive though?

Not sure about Ron, since he's a half hour from my house I just drive, and for Bob's, I haven't a clue. But ten shrimp at even just 5 bucks, the cheapest I've ever seen them in a LFS is $50 for shrimp. Vs $10 for ten... I doubt shipping is going to cost $40

I ordered my cherry shrimp from msjinkzd. Shipping only cost me $8.

I got my Green Shrimp from Msjinkzd also.
Since it's Winter I needed overnight shipping with a heat pack.
Even with freezing temps, They arrived alive and will.

So Overnight shipping in Winter $25-$30
Priority Mail in Summer (Oh yea Postal rates go up AGAIN in Jan 2010)

Ok, so it's probably worth it if I were going to buy like at least seven. Maybe I will go ahead and start out with ten, hopefully they don't all kick the bucket on me. But they shouldn't if the water perameters are good right?

Should the shrimp be one of the first things I add or the last? From what I understand they are extremely sensitive to any changes in the tank?

Should I get an Oxygen test kit??? There is a bubbler in my tank, I can't see that ther oxygen wouldn't be good. The tank is tall but there are plenty of tanks I've seen that are considerably taller.

I don't have any live plants. It's something I considered but decided probably wouldn't work well in the long run with my tank. I may go ahead and try one live one though to see how it works before I completely wright them off.

Yeah, I'm leaning toward the cherry red shrimp, but I wouldn't mind some dark green shrimp too. I've been reading mixed things about how well they would do together and how hearty they are though.

Found I can order both on "aquabid". anyone else ever order anything through there?
