Peacock Gudgeon Breeding Journal

Not yet. I expect to get some wigglers by tomorrow, but it will be hard to tell. Unfortunately, the tube is a little too long to sit flat in the little container I have it in, so it is hard to see inside the tube. As far as I can see, there are no wigglers yet. But it's really hard to tell. By day 6 or 7, they should be free swimming. I will remove the male around that time, as they sometimes eat the babies once they are free swimming.

I have a tank divider on the way that I hope will arrive tomorrow, which will eliminate the tube viewing issue. :)

Hmmm. Good question. They look smaller to me, if I remember, but I will have to check. Lights are off right now, and I don't want to bother them. If I think they are too big, I'll just use some fine netting and put on them if they are too wide.

I also have a net style breeder I could use. I just think the plastic ones look and stay cleaner.

Day 3

It's day 3! And the eggs are look different! I'd say they are developing. Good to see! They look like they have large dark spots in them now. Daddies still taking good care of them, eating a little and fanning his eggs constantly. Of course, I have pics and video. I am reminding myself of a first time parent, who takes three billion pics and videos of their first child. :hitting: Oh well. :)

Video first! Just another video of the male fanning his eggs.
