Okay first dead fish. Not due to water got up this am and my redtail shark was on the ground all dryed out . I have a tight fitting hood with only an 2 inch gap between hood and HOB filter. the shark was only 3 inches long are they capable of jumping with that accuracy

Double check the water parameters, could be a reason he wanted out so badly.

One time my redtail jumped out the very very small gap at the back of my tank (about 1") Luckily, I was right there to save him but it taught me that no hole it too small for a red-tail. Sorry for your loss :(.

it was only a 26 gallon bowfront which again as i said many times i think ive been misinformed by petco as to being able to have it in that tank

Unfortunatly like already said they need atleast a 50 gallon tank. If you could, you should pick up some of the clear plastic guard to cover up that hole so you dont have any more suicides.
