3 gallon red cherry shrimp tank

I posted a thread in the planted section about the anubias.

I think I will get 8 shrimp to start once the tank is cycled.

Update!

I almost forgot about this thread.

I finally got the red cherry shrimp about a week ago.

The guy at the store accidentally only gave me females (even though I asked for a mix) but luckily they keep the males and females in the same tank so a couple of baby shrimp found their way into the bag with the other shrimp and I was also lucky enough to get a female that was berried:D. The eggs have since hatched.

I do have one confession to make though. I did not wait for the tank to finish cycling. Instead I did a giant water change (there was only a little water left in the gravel before I refilled it) and then I added water that had a five times dose of prime and then I added a bottle of Tetra safe start which has the bio-spira bacteria in it (some say it works others say it doesn't but I figured it could not hurt to add it) before I added the shrimp and hoped that there was enough bacteria and plants already in the tank/filter.

I know many people on here feel like criticizing me but you have to understand that my brother was going back to college a couple of days later and he really wanted to see the shrimp in the tank before he left and I just could not let him leave without seeing shrimp in his tank so I did what I mentioned above and crossed my fingers and so far so good. The shrimp don't seem to be stressed out and they are all still alive. I realize it would have been better for the shrimp if I had waited for the cycle to finish but what's done is done.

But anyways here are some pics:

The last picture is of one of the babies hiding in some java moss.

Sweet pickups!

Yep, I get you on those "impulse" type purchases. I accidentally got a pair of Honey
Gouramis because my grandfather said he'll buy them for me. But, I'm extremely happy with the purchase.

Good luck on the shrimp and everything should be fine! If you need more males, you shoudl get some from people so you can have an addition in the colony.

Beautiful tank and that was very sweet of you to set this whole get up for your brother. He's lucky and blessed to have you. Good luck with raising the cherries. :)
