First time RCS mommy!

someone on craigslist is selling baby RCS (1/4 to 1/2in) 20 for 10 bucks? my fish tank has been up and running for about 3 weeks now, but the amonia and nitrate levels arent completely zerod out yet. will they still survive? can i put them in?

No!! You're tank is not established enough yet. Please wait until ammonia and nitrIte levels are at zero. Your nitrate levels should be around 10.

Your shrimp will thank you and be healthier if you wait till the tank is well established. They love algae, too.

You'll love them once you get them!! They are great little additions to a tank. What other occupants are going to be in the tank with them? :)

I agree! This is the first time I've had shrimps. I'm infatuated with my RCS. I can't imagine having an aquarium without shrimps now.

I also got some RCS fry recently. They've grown a little bigger, so I'm able to notice them frequently now. I did notice a lot more eggs on the mom RCS, however. It seems that many of them (more than half) didn't get to the hatching stage.

I'm having so much fun with these guys, when I put in a piece of an algae wafer for them I can observe generations of RCS feeding together! Some adults, berried females, medium sized, and tiny babies :)

I tried taking pictures, but unfortunately both my camera and my phone are pretty terrible and nothing comes out clearly...

Next thing you know you'll have more shrimps than you'll know what to do with and will be giving them away by the handfuls, LOL. From what I've read, these little guys reproduce like there's no tomorrow.

I've only had my batch for about 10 days or so. I can't wait for one of them to become berried.
