Your most irrational phobias

Luposlipaphobia: the rational fear that Luppy in pink tights will slide across your kitchen floor and slap you with wet goldfishies.....

EUGH! :barf: That's not a fear, Rb, and certainly not irrational! That's an instinct to run!

Most everyone has fears, but many fears are perfectly rational. I love big cats, but if I was strolling through the jungle and saw a Tiger I'd probably wet my shorts. And the thought of burning to death really freaks me out, but it doesn't stop me from enjoying a fireplace or firing up the grill.

Irrational phobia...????...loss of all my halos......

No Bob, You've got it all wrong, Its Phobias, Things you are afraid of.

Not dilusions of things the little voices in your head tell you about, or the belief in things that dont really exist, like Santa clause, the Loch Ness Monster, or the halos you claim to have...

Well, goody! Now I know never to invite an AC member to join me for a showing of my bug collection at the top of a ladder perched on top of an airplane as I lean back and put my gruesome, smelly feet in their face. Quite a useful thread! ;)

And I was just about to do that! Good thing I saw this thread!

things that touch my legs while i'm in the water FREAK me right out.

Me too! I think it comes from growing up in the swamps in Georgia, and having too many experiences involving "playing" in the water with my little feet hovering over the gaping mouth of some huge catfish :)
And there's eels in those swamps, too.
To this day, now that I'm in Hawaii, I still don't get in the ocean unless it is crystal clear.

swimming alone or in dark, deep water, steping on a poisonous fish or big crab. reaching into dark places always put that nasty thought in my head that somethings gunna grab it. those are really just fears tho, i fear not being able to change the channel more than reaching under the bed for the remote :D

Let's see, there's a few. I actually faint when I see my own blood. This one is weird, since it surfaced when I was 20 years old while giving blood--never had an issue before then. I also HATE centipedes and to a certain degree, millipedes. I know the local millis won't hurt you and eat mostly decaying vegetation, but they give me the heebies. Centipedes freak me out much worse than millis, though. Roaches are a given for me, as well.

Edit: Clowns *shivers*

Overpasses, especially getting caught under one in traffic. Didn't use to bother me, but after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake -- seeing all those pancakes freeways. Eeeeeeee! No way I want to sit under an overpass at all.
