mafia 63- Who is Who

Note away. You will get a couple of opinions of who is 'not helpful' you will get get an annoyed player and everyone else will agree with one of the first names posted. What ever works for you. Also new players have not p[layed with everyone, I think I played with you once. we will all be working off the opinions of the players who have played for a long while.

Okay. While I don't necessarily agree with everything you've said, these are actual reasons for you to reject the plan. Why didn't you do this in the first place, instead of just dismissing my plan as 'awfully evil'?

I vote to lynch rich

well if we are lynching people then

I VOTE TO LYNCH MAD

Thats what u get for thinking so hard lol.

My vote will probably change lol

I've been thinking about the best way to go about selecting lynch candidates for D1. This game is different than most, in that most of the scum are really in the dark about their team. This means that there won't be much (if anything) to watch for in terms of group interaction that may give them away. So how do we decide who to vote for?

Selection of a candidate is pretty much a total crapshoot, but there is a 50% chance of hitting scum. But, how do you decide?

I'm proposing that the town selects and lynches a player who has historically been generally unhelpful (ie, lack of effort/lurking, little original thought, etc.) to the town, even when they've been town-aligned.

This isn't a guarantee for hitting scum (still 50/50), but could minimize the risk to the town if an innocent gets lynched.

Thoughts? I don't want to head down this road without LOTS of agreement, as some egos would likely be bruised as a result of this plan....

I've been trying to decide whether I like your plan or not, Mad. In the end, I don't see any great benefit by doing this. We're still randomly killing off people (because they're lurkers)... so it's the same thing as randomly killing off people for any other (random) reason. The intention behind this is good but it's not going to give us anything better to go on for Day 2. Then if we do this again on Day 2, we're still no better off on Day 3. Basically, it doesn't matter whether we take your approach or not. It's just another bunch of random votes whatever way everyone decides to place them.

So you want to pick on the person no one likes. Awfully evil thinking if you ask me.

Not even close....IMO there's no correlation between likability and helpfulness. This could prevent the popularity contest that might otherwise ensue.

Also, historically there's been no correlation between likability and role assignment. So even if I had suggested we vote off the person nobody likes (although that person doesn't exist), there's still the same chance of hitting scum vs. town, right? So why would you label my plan as 'awfully evil'?

Had you simply disagreed with the plan, there wouldn't be an issue, but that you used it as an opportunity to flick scum has been noted.

I vote to lynch rich

I can understand why Rich doesn't like the idea... just his opposition doesn't mean he's mafia. Rich is something of a lurker himself. He doesn't normally post much and he doesn't do a lot of digging or make many inquiries even when he's innocent. So Rich would oppose the idea out of self-preservation, if nothing else. I can see the position he's in, given Mad's suggestion, and I don't feel there's reason to lynch Rich for just wanting to stay in the game (whichever side he's on).

At the very least you're getting rid of people who aren't known for contributing, which makes it harder to figure out their role.

I see issues with the idea, and it's not perfect...but it's good enough for day 1 that I wouldn't find it scummy if anyone resorts to it...

Whatever we do, we're going to be spinning our wheels for the first few days. Once the town mayor and mafia boss get back a few investigation results... THEN they and their communicating teammates (if any) will slowly start doing those subtle things we always look for. This format is just going to take it's time as the game runs it's course. We don't get any short cuts. I expect this will be largely Day 1 randomness for a few days before things start picking up.
