why on earth would a discus keeper let you have it?
salt is only used when the discus are stressed.
outside of that discus tend to come from water low in TDS.
and usually acidic.
yeah, discus board..On a discus board I suggested gradual salt addition & removal but was soundly chastised &/or laughed at :FIREdevil:. They weren't referring to salt dips either...
I have to be careful acclimating when buying new fish from high TDS areas & worse salt adders as my water is fairly soft. MY TDS meter has opened my eyes![]()
aquarium salt is not iodineized like table salt.And nope,I dont use it for anything.Salt is good on fish and chips though.But they want marine salt, not "aquarium salt", whatever that is. It's a complete marketing trick; there are no circumstances where it's required. For treating diseases and nitrite poisoning, table salt is fine. For creating brackish conditions, marine salt is required. I see no place for "aquarium salt".
