Deep in the heart of texas
Well... Jinkzie may have had epic snow.... and BMS may have had more whimsically artistic snow... but we have HISTORIC snow....

Here in Dallas/Fort Worth (I live right in between the two) we have had the Historically-Mother-of-All-Texas-Blizzards.

12.5 inches measured at DFW airport, but in my yard it was 14 inches deep.

Never in recorded history has this area experienced such a snowfall.

This was a serious blizzard... I had to fight my way out to the mailbox.... I thought I was not going to be able to find my way back to the house... I had an overwhelming desire to lay down in the drifts and just sleep.... so weary from the struggle.... nearing collapse I made it to the front door...

Yes this will be remembered as the great blizzard of twenty-ten. I thought I'd share the photos I took to document this day in history.

I had my husband take a picture of me making a snow angel. I couldn't persuade him to climb up on the roof of the house for a better view of the scene; he took the shot standing near my feet and it turned out looking very un-lady-like so I didn't attach that one, lol.

DD... you have the right idea about the bumper cars in the middle of town.... Most folks down here have no clue how to drive in this kind of weather.... (except for transplanted northerners and they try to stay off the roads and out of our way when there's snow or ice).

Every time we get a little sleet or snow you'll see cars are all over the median and in the ditches. I have driven in Colorado in snow and ice, but down here I just try to hole up 'til it's over, lol.

We get pretty excited over a little bit of snow here and this was snow of monumental proportions for us...

The transplants from MN, ME, CO, PA, NY, NJ, NH, CT, WI, and VT that I know just chuckle at us.... the television weather teams here go on DEF CON 1 and are broadcasting every few minutes with updates on the "winter storm conditions" on all TV stations... schools close down... there's a run on the grocery stores...

Soooo.... our snow may not be as deep as Jinkzie's or as pretty as BMS's, but yesterday.... we made history.

They all do it here in Iowa too,and I can't remember the last time we went for more than 5 days without it snowing. Not to mention it snows here every winter.I swear the local news just competes with each other to tell us it's snowing, and the roads are slick.
I can't wait for Spring!

Ya... but you really do get snow... down here they make such a fuss over the teeniest bit of snow and/or ice... we hardly ever get snow and when we do they act like it's 4 feet of snow, lol. So they went really berserk with the 12-14 inches we got this time, lol.

LOL, well I want to say enjoy it while it lasts, but I am so sick of it,it's hard for me to even say that!
