Help me with sponge filter size

I found them at petsmart. you might get them there

yuppers, those are them. Great illustration too zig. ALl it does is diffuse the bubbles down petluvr, makes them less noisy, better distribution of the bubbles, etc

Zig are they the BiOrb airstones?

The ones pictured are sold as disposable airstones, Wal-Mart used to carry them. They're open on one end, made to fit over the small plastic tube that goes down the inside of an UG filter head/lift tube. If you want to use a regular airstone for a diffuser you just need a short piece of airline tubing to attach it to the bottom of the sponge filter housing.
Incidentally, the frames of those sponge filters are all the same size. If you want to upgrade later just buy a larger replacement sponge

This is what I bought. they work great.

I suppose you could use a short piece of airline tubing, and a regular airstone, but this is so simple.
