Looks like an interesting project... I thought about converting my 125 to CFLs.
I would paint the inside white though, to reflect the light. I think the paint you have will reflect some weird color light.
Are you going to use any reflectors on the bulbs?

Nice project but to me looks like an accident waiting to happen. The concept is great the materials not so much.
ok you cant just make a statement like that and not explain yourself whats with the materials??? every florescent fixture that i have ever seen is based on the same concept. please explain what you are talking about.
So you are running 29x 27 watt bulbs, for a total of 783 watts over your 125? So over 6 watts per gallon...whoa. :y220d: I don't know that seems a little much for freshwater, but I wouldn't really know. I know people use like 750 watts of metal halides in reef tanks.
