This tank has gone through a few different changes, but has settled in. I'd originally wanted some finer foreground leaf shapes, but the plecos would have none of that, this plant does not uproot and and allows a nice understory place for the plecos to grub around and the RCS to pick and clean anything missed by the plecos. I have 15 caves made into this piece of wood for the plecos(Leopard frog). the brass tetras are about 2 years old, this is as big as they get, very pretty and excellent schooling, lively fish. Maybe 100 RCS in here. Simple display, but low light + easy care, makes it a nice tank.

Good current, flourite sand, wet/dry filter, 1.7 w/gal and about 30 micromols along the bottom.

Recently send a basket ball sized piece oif bolbitus off for sale, and about 50 dwarf hygros. 30 RCS are culled about once every month or two from the filter.

Now if I can get some Leopard frog fry or have some tetras' spawn, I'm in good shape.

Your tanks are always beautiful!!

wow, great tank!!!

another nice tank...

Wow, that wood is killer!! Makes me think of a huge cliff face, or perhaps an island with sheer cliffs. The tetras are the seagulls, lol!

What is that foreground plant?

Yes, in person you immediately think pali
My sig other is from Ohau and the mosses really like the wood, so pali could be emulated for sure. I might try Fissidens moss foreground, the plecos might rip and shred it up, but you never know till you try. the wood is soft and moss attached aggressively, I try and keep it clean though of moss.

Not happy with the foreground, more for the plecos than anything.
But a Hawaiian theme could be done with Cypress for sure.

I might do a Redwood forest theme at some point being here in northern CA.

I'm on Oahu, actually lived right beneath the Koolau mountains in Kaneohe for most of my life! Not sure when you/your wife was last here... but the relatively new H-3 freeway has the best views of the mountains. Tons of fern with twisted O'hia trees and silvery Kukui nut trees poking out. Stunning, really.

Fissidens would totally rock covering the wood!
