I for one believe him, if indeed it does wind up being some kind of tale he spun I applaud him for entertaining us at the very least! I mean come on! I can't wait for the next post :)

I am sorry Chef, If this is a story then you could get a job as writer and make a fortune. If this is true then you really should spread the word, that way if you suddenly "disappear", or get robbed you will not be forgotten and will be missed. I am not a paranoid person, but if all this is true then even i would be a little jumpy *Travis jumps out of skin and hits head on ceiling
as cat enters room running*.

hmmm i can see you want to protect your wife and kids from this , but i think youve forgotten that youngsters are also on this forum too...
there is enough paranoia out there as there is and im sorry to say youve kinda brought in here
 
Just a couple more points here from the original message.

1) not on letterhead for the agency

2) the verbiage used is inconsistent with someone in an official

3) they offered no receipt for your property

4) they offer no contact information

5) any real intelligence service would also ask for an interview regarding the property they needed to examine

6) any info they get from your boots now is worthless

7) they didn't use your full names in the letter to include middle initial

8) they didn't include an official return label with a reference code, just a paid postage tag

9) they sent money, and didn't provide documentation for the money.............

10) the letter offers no reference code

11) they made an extra effort to tell you to keep this a secret and not to provide identification as to who the property is from

That's the short version. Like i said before, when people get a mailing from an agency they are not accustom to (for me it was the CIA and FBI) they tend to get a little paranoid about things that aren't really happening. When i was getting my security clearances, the FBI contacted my contacts. Some of my friends were pretty shocked, and nervous until months after they were contacted to verify me.........

Somebody is playing with your head, and it's not your government.....
 
Yes ccm and thus why a great part of me thinks it a joke.

It is also why I saw the 2 $100 bills as a killer way to get my kids a turtle and not a red ear slider at that. Hey if some stranger wants to give me cash and there is no record of it in anywhere then more power to them because now we got ourselves a florida softie!!!!!

I am interested to see what comes of the po box and the supposed plate number though.

And I do love the humour that fish keepers have the above pictures were truly a good laugh at the end of this day.

Did have a good fishy moment today. I was asked by the fish society if they could hold a sunday social here so people could come check my tanks. That means I have 3 weeks to make sure they are ship shape yikes.

same here. There is no way that's a legitimate gov't contact.
 
I have tried to stay clear of this thread because I believe it's all just nonsense. At first read I was somewhat curious about it all but now it just sounds too far fetched to have any truth to it.

And I purposefully will not respond to naysayers because I do not need to defend my self against their belief that this is folly and falsehood.

Though have you not heard that sometimes TRUTH IS STRANGER THAN FICTION.

Go ahead take the phone number and email of the constable's cards and see if they did not indeed come in and do a house sweep to make sure the place was clear. Go ahead ask them if they do not have a file open and are checking into the matter!
 
I would go to a thrift store and get yourself some cheap boots and mail them and try to get another $200. No disrespect to you, keep the boots that mean so much to you, but use the money and get yourself some new boots.
