Since the meet at That Fish Place and Invertebrates by Msjinkzds is coming up I decided to make some frozen fish food recipes specifically for this. I am doing a herbivore recipe and a carnivore recipe. Idk if I will get to make the carnivore one but the herb one will be there for trade
recipes:
herbivore
peas
carrots
spinach
broccoli
nori
spirulina
banana
gelatin
calcium supplement

carnivore
beef heart
liver
white fish
brine shrimp
gelatin

Let me know what y'all think I appreciate any suggestions these recipes come from a bit of research into diy fishfoods
shrimp (shell on)
clam

Looks great
I like to see more people actually cook for their fish
I use a recipe very close to yours but i mix the vigtiales with the meat and add some gallic as well with a lot of spinach

I usually mix both but i want to try doing feedings of only veggies and only meats so i can control what they are getting a little bit more. i find with the meat heavy type i have now that my fish gorge themselves more on it vs the more veggie type

I am switching between vigtable mix, Meat mix , Spenige only and ghost shrimp
But i didn't try adding beef stuff to my meat recipe, It is:
Basa fish meat
Ghost shrimp
Squid
Fresh water crayfish

For the last year i tried that mix with:
Oscars,Severums,Clown loach,Yoyo loach,Betta,Blue gourami,Angelfish,Corycats,Pelco,tiger barbs
And it seems working very well
Do you recommend beef stuff?

The only beef stuff i recommend is liver and heart. That is because there is no fat in any of that, and beef fat (from what i have read) is not good for the fishies. I know my loaches went nuts over the liver/clam/pollock/spinach/banana/spinach/v8 mix i used to make this batch of diy fish food. Now a question for you is do you feed diy food everyday? I heard that too much protein can be bad for them and can clog them up

EDIT: you can also use low fat steaks, but with liver 2.29 a pound, i figure this is the cheapest method. I have yet to go get heart because the butcher shop i work part time at wont order it (something about no one else wanting it X_X) and itll be a 20 minute drive to go get. On another note, i do want to buy a heart to eat, i hear if it is cooked right it tastes very good, like sirloin

First the beef heart taste very good, It can be fried or grilled

Back to fish world, YES by all means i am feeding them only my home mad mix, No canned food for my babies, But basically my mix is 40% vegetables at least, I feed them pure meat mix twice or three times every two weeks, Twice a week i feed them spinach or cucumber, I am afraid maybe i am not providing them with enough proutin since i stoped using tubfix worms

ahhh okay...thats my thinking behind herbivore and carnivore food. I will probably tweak the herbivore and add a tiny bit of something, like shrimp, so that they are getting protein but not at the same amounts that the carnivore food is. Have you tried culturing live foods? I culture daphnia (at the moment that is out of order) for all of my top and middle swimmers and pond snails for the loaches. My angelicus botia gets so hyper whenever he finds a pile of pond snails.... you can also use pond snails instead of clams in the diy food recipes

I give my Clown loaches and Yoyo loaches some Apple snails as treat some times, But i don't trust wild pond snails to be clean from disease or parasites, About Daphina it occurs in a huge amounts in a lake near my city - Thanks to a huge agricultural fertilizers production compound on the south shore of the lake- Do you think harvesting some of it for my fish will be a wise thing to do?

From all my research into daphnia, they are very sensitive to pollutants in the water. I read somewhere that they are actually used to test water quality. So i think that would be fine you could just fish some out everyday

some pics of me making one of the diy foods, this is a loach food recipe that they go nuts for. its basically the meat recipe i have with a tad of greens
