At a loss for words

I'm so sorry for your disaster and hope your fish survive. I recently found my 29-gallon (fw) tank -- heated by a Marineland heater -- at 90 degrees. Needless to say, I immediately changed out about 13 or 14 gallons of water and prayed I wouldn't lose all my fish. I was fortunate, I only lost one hatchetfish, but still. I have Marineland heaters in all my other tanks and am just holding my breath. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and your fish.

If I were you, I wouldnt risk it, and just change them out and sell them on CL.

So sorry to hear Star...I've luckily never had a marineland heater fail on me though I did cook a few fish a few years back with a different one. Everyone survived though. Oddly enough that is when I switched to stealths.

If I were you, I wouldnt risk it, and just change them out and sell them on CL.

Are you suggesting that they sell potentially defective heaters?

Yes! Obviously buying a new one means purchasing a potentially defective heater... duh! :)

That is different than purposefully selling a used heater that you suspect could not work to someone because you don't want to deal with the problems.

At the very least inform the potential buyer that these heaters have a history of not working.

So sorry to hear this, Star!! Man, I am NOT buying another ML heater until they get this worked out. I hope the ones in my shellie and 20 dont't fry. :(

Wow! Another tragedy, sorry to hear of all this. Hope you are able to save them.

I have never bought the stealth heaters as I just never felt comfortable in using them. Wish I could explain why. Maybe because I don't trust any heater and am always watching the tank temps.

Good to kno J dblR

I am looking into alternative heaters.

I am using an older visi therm currently to keep the water close.
I am praying my tangs all recover..
the tomini is a special tang and the sole survivor of ich..he's tough and gracelful

Oh Ed, so sorry to hear this. I hope they recover for you!!! I know this isn't your first ML heater failure and loss. Just got my jagers yesterday. Will put them in my tanks tomorrow and be so relieved to have the new ML heaters out of my tanks!
