Can rcs do well in a 2 gallon aquarium?

So I am thinking of getting a 2 gallon rcs aquarium for my desk and I wanted to make sure red cherry shrimp would do well in a tank that size and if so how many.

I plan to add a heater and do a fishless (and shrimpless) cycle.

Also are undergravel filters shrimp-safe?

I know some people do not like undergravel filters because of maintanence but I am not concerned about this aspect of undergravel filters.

So would all this work with rcs?

I would get one of those but I don't think I will due to space and weight reasons.

with a REAL filter.. no pump needed as the filter aerates the water and it's silent!..

i got 7 shrimp to start out.. now i have probably close to a hundred babies.. and there is still plenty of space because i put a lot of fake plants, real plants, and caves and such

Thank you for the suggestion but I have an aqueon 2.5 gallon minibow (it houses a bamboo shrimp currently) and I don't think it would fit in the space I have available on my desk.

It will work but it just won't give you as much space. You're gonna have to find some place for the babies to grow out (or at least selling them or moving them to different tanks when the shrimp are big enough).

I'd start with maybe 6 or 7 and see where that takes you. If you're looking to breed and sell them, I'd start with more but if you're just wanting something to take space, I think a few will be good. Just make sure your have a few males and females.

i have tonssss of rcs and snails in an All Glass aquarium 2.5 gallon, with 2 red sea nano filters, sand, driftwood, java moss and a moss ball, there doing awesome! breeding like crazy

So it sounds like they would be okay in a 2 gallon. But what about the undergravel filter, is it shrimp-safe?

I would like to avoid having to buy a different filter if possible and the minibows will not fit in the available area on my desk.

I would think so. The baby's are super tiny but if they can survive the sponge on a perfilter or sponge filter they can survive not getting sucked into the gravel. The suction is very low on them since they are air pump controlled.
