Stocking a 20L, Bolivian Ram or Pearl Gourami?

JIC nobody's noticed, "Sid" is a lady ;-)

And "SidtheMonkey" is a fish reference.

haha, I didn't notice... but how would I? ;) Is it obvious that Tbirdie is a lady? My name is Tania and my favorite teacher in school long ago used to always call me T-bird. How's that for a trip down OT lane.

Good Lord, neither will snack on ottos, and I never had anybody snacking on adult amanos either (never had any escape the tank either...but there were pretty well-planted tanks).

An adult Bolivian or killi wont bother an otto or an adult amano. I dont even remember which killis I had now, but nah.

Just the golden wonders you need to worry about, they get larger and can make guppies disappear faster then you can blink :) I actually had bought one of those and put it in the tank with the two gardneri's, they stalked and tormented that dude into the tiniest corner(they even spaced themselves in the areas adjacent as a team to keep him from trying to run). I had to take him out and bring him back, and he was twice the size of the other two. Those two went into this zone stalking to kill this dude, as soon as he was out, they just back to bee-boppin around the tank. I mean it was like flipping a switch into an entirely different fish.

ha, I didnt know until you mentioned your husband. I do declare it in my profile tho...not that there's any reason for people to check that really.

Well you surely know more than me. I dont even remember which ones I had now.

haha, poor otto probably has ptsd now.

Nah, pretty much I think the otto brain works like this:

"munch munch munch munch(move) munch munch munch munch munch munch(move)munch munch munch munch-hey who my tail in their mouth!??-munch munch munch munch"

Probably one form or another of gardneri, they are the most common. Pretty much like my avatar, but they have tons of variations of the actual fin tip colors and styles, they also have a gold one that looks the same but is yellow instead of blue. Golden wonders are generally docile as well, same overall structure but have a much pointier head shape, they only eat what fits in their mouth(which can open to the same diameter of their body). They start out about the same size, but get up to 3" long(takes a while).

Gardeneri are very peaceful, but if they see something as a threat or as possible food, they immediately go into an intense stalker mode. None of the fish we're talking about would bother one though. Full grown ottos are the same size as the killi. My otto are just about 1 1/4" plus fin, and he doesn't bother them anymore then that one instant. The female killi is much smaller then the male. In any case, pretty much the only thing with shrimp in a community tank is the offspring that will become food(like just about anything else).

interesting. So, the one you showed me was the gardneri panchax killi? I want to make sure I get the right kind when i'm at the store going "ooooo, pretty!" So, avoid the golden, and otherwise I should be good?
