cascade 700 is it worth it?

BTW, those came stock with a spray bar attachment, so make sure to use that as a price reduction if they dont have it...
 
I have a 1000 cascade on my 55g. Got it used, and it works great to me. I don't have a problem with flow on it. Or prime, and low sounding too. I also have a used 700 cascade, for my 37 tank when I get it up and running. Both systems came with all parts/media. So I like mine.

I think if you do try a cascade for a 55g, go with the 1000. I think it'll be better than the 700. Of course, the 700 will be fine until something else came along.

But you need to check if its a complete filter. All parts/media. I think that I give about 30-40 for my used 700 on ebay. excluding the shipping cost.

I also had a 700 on a fully stocked 55G tank, probably had it on there for 18 months and never had any problems with flow, or noises. I had to clean it every other month, but it was easy to clean and easy to get going again.

The only reason I do not still use it is because I replaced it with an Eheim 2217, now that keeps my tank spotless!! The Cascade is now on my 29G and does a great job there.
 
Did you get the filter or not? We are all dying to know... not really but would be cool to know either way.

I was told canister filters need to sit lower than the tank to work right. Makes sense since they (most?all?) use syphon action to work, the pump is just for return flow.
 
If it has bypass anything like the Fluval 404/405 designed canister (terrible), your way-way better off waiting for another Sunsun which has the least amount of bypass and the most amount of proportional surface area I have seen for stacked canister filters. That and the $43 price tag coupled with the fact that having 2 will make having a spare part on hand (i.e. impeller, O-ring) much more user effective is the way to go. If I hadn't converted my Fluval 404's to cart filters, I would have given both of them to you free.

Heck, my FX5 doesnt have "impressive" flow either, but only cause im spoiled on it, and its never enough.

One day, I'll plug in a filter thats blows the opposite pane out of my setup... Then I'll have OK flow :)

I would offer the guy 30 and deal from there.

I love having two filters, for directional adjustments, and maintenance ease(without the mini-cycle worries).

let me clarify then.

The flow was disappointing from the very instant I plugged it in.

is that good?
 
I have a cascade 1000. The flow is sub par to put it nicely. I will be getting 2 sunsun filters to take its place soon and then sell the cascade. I've read nothing but good things about the sunsun filters.
