I was doing a WC for my new betta and I spotted some red dots on the tips of his fins. I'm not sure what it could be and it's hard for me to get a picture of it.

Any thoughts on what this might be and how serious it is??

Perhaps and hopefully Nothing.

Without pics, cant say. At least from me!

I'm going to snap a few pictures tomorrow, the spots are tiny but I hope I can get a decent shot. I really hope it's nothing but I've definitely never seen it before.

Don't know, but it could be water quality issues. See what happens when you change the water and keep it pristine for a few days. If it is that-- the fins should clear up. If it gets more aggressive, then it may be a bacterial issue.

He so far has been in a 5g tank that hasn't been cycled (it had no filter until I bought one yesterday) But I've been religiously doing 100% water changes daily. I then was in the middle of putting him on the other side of a divider in a cycled 10g with another betta of mine when I noticed those red dots and I quickly scooped him out in fear that it may spread to my other betta. Now he's back in the 5g WITH a filter on it which I am currently starting to cycle. I guess I will just continue with the 100% water changes until I can figure this out but hopefully it ends up being nothing and I can then put him into the 10.

These are some odd spots though, so I'm concerned. Pictures in a bit

Why 100% wc? Maybe caused by 100 % WC.
Shouldve tested water as soon as noticed something before wc or transfering, etc, etc. At least we couldve eliminated present/existing water condition that fish was exposed to.
