H2Ogal's 20g Long

That's some sexy wood.

Thanks for all the compliments on the driftwood. "Sexy" is exactly the look I was going for, Juice. How'd you know? :)

I'm really happy with the wood's looking, now that it's not covered in fungus and algae. (Did you guys know that pond snails love fungus?? Glad they showed up, as I certainly hadn't planned on adding any. Of course, I'll probably end up with too many, but that's life in the wet lane, I suppose.)

user_name, I've been checking out harlies around town. Lucky me, the best ones seem to be at a Petco that's super close to my house — and their fish dept. manager seems like a really decent, knowledgeable guy. Still figuring out how many, and where to set up a QT tank. The otos are basically in quarantine for a month in the 20g but it would be nice to have more fish ready to go in shortly after that.

good lookin tank! 20 long is one of my fav size tanks. has a perfect length:height ratio as well as 40breeders.

I second whoever mentioned harlys. their great little schoolers. make sure to get a group of at least six though.

beautiful tank!!!!!

Very nice tank. Wish mine would look like that. BTW, the pond snails will not take over, they will just grow to the max the tank food supply can handle. I know because i've had them b4 and they didn't get to big in size or number. I really like the blue snail, do you know where it came from, i may try to get some myself.

Nice looking tank, can't wait to see some pics of it w/ fishes.
Your wish is my command: Not that it's fully stocked, of course, but check out my new otos. :)

Thanks for the kind words. Since I'm doing a deep sand bed and don't want to disturb it by continually adding/moving plants, I figured I'd better get the tank looking like I wanted it to before adding any fish. Of course, I didn't know then that it would take months! Ignorance really can be bliss.

The ramshorn arrived unseen on a plant, sheer luck. I think I might get an overabundance of pond snails, regardless of feeding, as I'm leaving leaf debris, etc. in the tank to break down for the DSB. Once I get some omnivorous fish in there, things should balance out. That's the plan anyway ... :uhoh:

looks great, otos look healthy so far too. great job.
