Sun Sun Filters

I just hope they clone the FX5 becasue Ill be the first to buy one and feel wise about it, if the cloning is done right just like the Sunsun.:D

:thm: Gunner i am praying with you on this one!

And also, after having my sun sun filtering side by side with my fx-5 on my 250 gallon planted for a few weeks i am already very happy with the ease of use, filtering abilities, and quiet operation of the sun sun. Doesn't match the fx-5 but for the price i will say that it outperforms the expectations

One question that I had that did not get answered was how can gunner claim that the sun sun is just as good as any eheim in its class without reviewing or owning an eheim???
This is what started me on my rant lol.
I would guarentee the sun sun's parts are not up to par with eheim in quality. As performance goes hey he could be right but without owning one how do you tell?

let me know when the Sun Sun lasts 25 yrs like most of my Marineland Mags....

if you cant afford to buy a "name brand filter" costing over a 100.00 buy a sun sun get a few years use out of it and by then you could have saved up enough to buy a name brand deluxe canister filter.
and sell your sun sun its a win win deal.

Fair point, but I suspect that the Magnums and the "classic" Eheims are the only filters on the market right that can legitimately claim that kind of lifespan. I went to my lfs the other day and tried to buy some spare gaskets for my c-360 and got told that as far as they know, Marineland has decided that all replacement parts must come directly from them. I was not impressed by that at all, and I doubt my c-360 will last more than 5-10 years. My brother's Fluval x04 is the biggest piece of (beeeeeeeep) I've ever used as far as canister filters go, followed very closely by my own Eheim ECCO. Most of the products on the market today are garbage, and I'm not sure that the Sun Sun is any worse. I may pick one up and compare it to my C-360 and/or C-220. If I do I'll post back with measurements and some pump info.

When I examine a canister, I look at it the same way I look at any machine, and these machines "stacked basket canister filters" only have 4 main processes that make an effective basket filter:
The basket surface area which must be large enough to allow flow even when dirty , Sunsun has one of the largest basket surface areas I have seen. Bypass water channels which rob a filters efficiency, sunsun has none. Decent pump flow, that's it.

Im not saying that that Sunsun is better then Eheim, only just as good if not better .

Agree, and for 1/4th the price.

I'm just waiting to see the transfer in the back window of some old F150 with a picture of a kid peeing "Eheim p*******on SunSun"
