Photos from the creek- New minnow trap

Are you sure they weren't trash bags?

crayfish??? we call them shrimp down in Australia..... but thanks for sharing Bio ;)

Yellow bullhead are quite good pan fried.

I will have to take your word on that one, lol. I would like to say I don't eat anything that comes out of the water due to some moral or ecologically mindful reason, but honestly, I just don't like the taste of anything aquatic! Plus, she was too pretty to eat. :)

thats awesome! where is this creek? theres tons of wildlife!

It is actually just a tiny forest fragment, bordered on one side by a busy road and a sports field on the other side. It does pretty well given the stress it is under. Give me a minute, and I can get a Google Earth image of the site.

Here is the site. The small creek is Montour creek, where I ran the minnow traps. It runs into the Susquehana river, which is that big muddy thing, lol. The yellow dot is approximately the spot I go to. A large bank has built up there, so it is easy to access a variety of habitats, from riffles to runs to pools. The creek does not get deep in that area, maybe a little above my knees at the deepest. I think it is somewhat impacted, although I haven't done a serious test on it to see what shape it is in. However, it seems to support a nice variety of fish! Unfortunately, the forested section is somewhat lacking. Although it seems to be supporting a nice wood turtle population, I can't find much else. I keep rolling logs and hoping, but I have yet to see a single salamander or snake. I think the fragment may just be too small and inaccessible.
