Help! Ph not high enough

I use CC in all my tanks as well. I have it in the bottom of the HOBs. For the 45g, I would suggest starting at 1/2 - 3/4 cup. Monitor from there and adjust accordingly. In my 45 I have just under 1 cup and is maintaining a pH of 7.4.

Of course my reasoning to use CC is due to <6 pH out of the tap too.

Really? The ramshorns and MTS in my tanks clearly don't know this. Granted the shells dissolve when they die, but they get pretty big.

6.5 is definitely too low to keep sulawesi snails. Ramshorns and MTS breed like crazy, so you probably don't notice a few dying off because of low pH, but someone that spent $$ on a snail will definitely notice.

OP- 6.5 is a bit low. Crushed Coral will probably work better than the argonite, if the argonite doesn't do the trick. Remember, with snails it's not just about pH, but also, and maybe more importantly, about TDS. While pH and TDS tend to go hand in hand, just be sure to check that out too.

Why don't you also post in the invert section. Those people are used to snail issues.

Really!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go post this question in the inverts forum and see what you get in reply. Granted, I was more worried about it for my Mystery Snails/Brigs and don't care a bit about the ramshorns and MTS in my tanks. Also, the MTS have a shell that seems to be thick as can be and hard as steel.
