Java Fern assistance.

Java ferns reproduce in two ways, by producing additional plants from the original rhizome and by producing plantlets at the ends of the leaves. I've read that a plant under stress will produce more babies on the leaves than on the rhizome as a way to ensure reproduction but I don't know if that's really accurate. The plantlets do seem to grow faster than the mother plant, IME.

I've got so many plantlets on mine I'm planning a java fern forest for a new 6.6g bookshelf aquarium that I'll set up soon. :)
actually, that makes a whole lot of sense. mine used to produce plantlets from the leafs all the time. i've learned some and they're much healthier now... and there's almost never plantlets coming from the leafs anymore. i thought i was actually doing something wrong for a bit there :duh:.

Feel free to take the baby plant and place it somewhere else. It looks like it's been growing at the tip of the leave for a while. I noticed that in a low light setting, java fern will make fernlettes (sp?) off the leaves. In a higher lighting setting, new leaves shoot up from the rhizome. I prefer the latter because then the plant molds to the thing it's attached.

I noticed that in a low light setting
