Thanks for the compliment... Unfortunately this tank took a turn for the worst and I didn't make any attempt to catch it in time so I started over. I hope to have pictures up soon.
Not much to say except neglect lead to a BBA out break and the tank looked like crap in person. BBA so thick you couldn't tell what it was covering anymore.
I had already started tinkering with moving plants when I took this picture so I didn't log the transformation from the very beginning but here it goes.
I have already decided on the driftwood and Bacopa placement to the right you can't tell how thick the BBA was in this pic
What I could salvage temporarily went in a bucket.
This is what it looks like right now I have some more driftword I plan on getting in here. The extra clean plants I gave away the stuff that was covered was tossed and I'm attack what's left of the BBA slowly because I don't want to disturb the Glosso it's a PITA to get back down with SMS.
Now it's just a matter of a little patience to let stuff grow in. I lost a lot of my exotic plants but oh well perhaps I'll try again another time.
The tank looks like a bloody mess now that I'm dosing Excel the BBA is turning a burgundy/red color while the other type of algae is turn white. I've got more driftwood in there now and need to move some things around once I have the time to get a couple of my plants out of the 90gal.
8 days later. I know it's a bit quick for an update but I can't help tinkering with the tank. So I'd like to share how it looks today.
I figured I'd add the plant list since I lost a number of species;
Alternanthera reineckii
Anubias 'nana'
Ammania Sp. Bonsai
Bacopa caroliniana
Bacopa monnieri
Blyxa aubertii
Glossostigma elatinoides
Lobelia cardinalis
Ludwigia repens
Rotala rotundifolia sp Colorata
Vallisneria americana
FTS
Right
Left
I'm going to skip using Excel for a day or two because I think it is affecting my Vallisneria americana. I've changed the rock placement around to create a cave and eventually will have it cover by moss sooner or later. I've added more driftwood but in order to get the effect I wanted I used black zip ties which I hope to also cover those areas with moss. I disturbed the gravel quite a bit so the Glosso keeps coming up. This is pretty much the placement of the plants with the except of the Bacopa monnieri I'm planning on having that come around the back of Alternanthera reineckii on the left unless I find something else to but back there. I don't want to choke out the plants before they've had the chance to fill in so I've hidden most of the gaps not easily seen from the front. I'll keep my fingers and hope it comes together aquascaping is not my strong point I flat out stink.
Beautiful, Inspiring, Wondrous! I have been planning a conversion from plastic to live plants for the last 2 months, but I keep getting caught up in the technicalities, and it makes me forget why I want live plants. I remember now!!!
