hello all,

i have not not been on here in a while. a have an empty 55 gallon tank with noithng in it except play sand and a filter and a heater. i have never tried live plants before. i want to go back to a community tank or semi community tank with barbs or cory cats, nothing predatory like. i heard that the little seed that walmart sells are nice. what are some ideas on stocking any suggestions are welcome even if they are not community fish. i might even go brackish. please amy siggestions would be great!

Like Plague said---most bulbs they sell are Aponogeton and Lilly bulbs. Very easy plants to grow, buy maybe annuals.

Well I could list SO many ways to stock this tank!!!!!

I would first cycle it and plant it. Then do something along this:
3 (1m:2f) Three Spot, Pearl, or Moolight Gouramis
A large group of Black Ruby, Cherry or Odessa Barbs
A school of Kuhli or Zebra Loaches

Or you could do more of a SA theme with this:
A herem of Apistos (cacatuoides ar agassizi)
A group of Black Phantom, Emperor, Bleeding Heart or Bentos Tetras
A school of cories

ok i like the school of cories idea and ima get some 3 spot gouramis and mabye some cardinal tetras. please some suggestions? thanks RazzleFish, Plague, and Tanker

You can try an Asia theme==
A gourmais, a school of smaller loaches (Botias) and 2 schools of barbs (Snakeskins, Tictos, Odessa, Ruby, ect---all peaceful).

Or South America

A medium Cichlid (Festivum, Urau, Angel, ect), a school of corys, and 2 schools of tetras (Lemon, Diamond, Rosy, Head-Tail Lights, Phantoms, ect). If you want to get "torpedo" shaped tetras get them first before the cichlid--(Cardinal, Black Neon, Glowlight, Brass, Kerris, ect).

If I was you i would get a pair of rhinogobius wui, 3 dojo/weather loaches, 10 white clouds, and 10 glo-fish or a variety of zebra danio.

EDIT: These guys are all cold water.

It really depends, some take hours, some take months. Personally, if they grow white fungus take out of the water and send them to the company. They'll send you more seeds. You'll have soo many seeds that you won't know what to do with them.

oo btw before I forget, don't put them in your aquarium. Put them in some small bowl by the sunlight and let them grow roots. You don't want that fungus white stuff growing in your aquarium.

Be careful with the aponogeton bulbs, they grow up to 1' and they grow super fast. They were able to completely drain my tank of iron supplements and I had to buy iron. So try to keep an eye on that plant. Dwarf lillies are nice and won't do harm.

uh oh one bulb is growing the white fugus the other three are 5 are fine though ill take that one out and out the rest in the sun like you said.i wanna have my tank completly ready for my new fish
