i have a subwoofer system in my car that is a little more powerful than what i need. i spent a good amount of time picking out the components so it would be perfect. the system consists of.

the subs: 2 kicker CVR 12" 400RMS 800MAX
*with a kicker brand sealed enclosure*

the amp: Visonik V1802A 2 channel amp, 1800max 300rms x 2chan @ 4ohms, 600rms x 2 chan @ 2ohms, 1200w bridged

this combination is a beast and i have it wired at 2ohm for each sub so im getting 600w out of each sub. its extremely loud and blows away everyone elses system that i know. its only been used for a few weeks and is basically new and well taken care of.

im thinking of selling it on craigslist to buy a cheaper less powerful system for my car, and use the rest of the money for other upgrades.

what is this system worth if i choose to sell it and how much should i ask for it.

prices for the parts are found bellow:
the amp
the subs and box - this box is ported, mine isnt.

$325 probably....

Used doesn't have a high resale. People don't know how much life is left, how you've run it, etc...

But it really depends how much people are willing to pay in your area. Around here some people will pay stupid amounts for stuff that isn't even worth it. I have 3 elemental designs 18" subwoofers and people didn't wanna offer over $100 for all 3, yet they were paying ridiculous amounts for smaller sony xplode subwoofers just because they came with a crappy amp.

only $325? that seems a little low, especially considering that kicker is a large popular name brand and the combination kicks but.

In your opinion it kicks butt and is worth more than that, to someone buying used they are not going to pay a lot of money. If I were you, I would just try selling off one of the subs and the box, build a new box for the sub you are left with and call it a day.

Didnt you have like 20 pages of posts helping you try to get a good system in your car? I'm sorry to hear that it is too loud for you. From when I was working with systems in cars way back when their residual value plummeted to zero after you install them. Best bet is to sit and wait on craigslist. Or, run your system @ 4ohms to lower power. Turn down the volume/bass/amp/etc. remove one sub.

remember: louder does not always sound better

my brother has been sitting on identical kickers, box and amp for over 2 years with nothing to use them in for the same reason. once they're set up they're practically worth nothing. good luck. craigslist is full of folks of all kinds. hopefully they'll go fast for the price you want. i'd personally list them for at least 75% of what i paid. people are going to offer less than you're asking regardless...

side note... last system i bought i paid just about $500 for:
3 10" jl subs... i want to say w6's but i don't remember for sure... they were in a brand new box though
rockford amp
pioneer 4way 6x9's
pioneer 3 way 4" door speakers
rockford 4 port amp
head unit install kit
rockford and no name 1 farad caps (one of each)
rca wires
installation kit (power and ground wires with in line fuse)
insulation kit
passive crossover eq
sony explode detachable face head unit
dash tweeters

used stuff goes for cheap because people assume it's stolen...

No, that's not low. And large popular name brand does not = worth a lot, especially used. Once you install it the value goes down because no one knows how much life the stuff has left. Subwoofers and amps don't have an infinite life, and the life is cut down drastically depending on how they're installed and how hard they're used. Nothing you have is hard to find and you can get good deals on them new or refurb.

"The combination kicks butt" is personal opinion since people generally like their own mix of equipment. EVERYONE thinks their system is the best.

Personally I would not pay ANYTHING for used subwoofers from someone I didn't know who I didn't see install and run them myself, and I would not pay much for a used amp.

Your best bet to get any value out of them is to just keep them hooked up or to find something else to use them with *shrug*.
Sorry but car audio equipment just doesn't hold value at all once it's been run.

ya, it turned out being more powerful than i could ever hope to need. i figure if i sold them i could get something cheaper and less powerful and use the leftover money for other things for the car. dont get me wrong, its great, its just more than im ever going to use.
