Veggie feeding questions

sweet potatoe and strawberry?!?
Interesting. You would think the potato would be too 'starchy' and the strawberry too acidic.
ehhhh these fish (and such) are funny creatures

Mine go nuts. Especially for the potatoe

I get a shallow plate, cover with water and blanch for about 30 secs or until the potato is softish, the strawberry doesn't need long.

wow thanks for the tips all. I'm just trying something different then the algae wafers. My cories seem to love the zucchini have it has turned to mush after 24hrs. I will try the 30sec microwave in water thing. I have been clamping plant weights on my pieces, but I will remove seeds also

I don't cook it at all for the bigger plecos, but the youngsters have an easier time eating soft zuchinni so I nuke it for them to make it soft. Otos don't quite have the sucking power that the plecos do so personally I think softer is better for them. I've always heard that cucumber has less nutritional value, but the veggies should only be a part of their diet. I find the softer the zuchinni, the faster the filter gunks up, but when I'm raising baby plecos, that is secondary to their appetite and proper growth. Soft or non-nuked....I rarely leave it in longer than 24 hours.
