Local yard sign 250Gal $200 but dimensions 72X24X18!

i say go for it! even if you have to do a bit of resealing, the cost of a tube or two of silicone doesn't even factor in with that price!

Yeah, I went ahead and went for it and posted the results on a new thread. So if anyone is wondering where the pics went there are better ones at the "CL 160 tank for $100" thread. After all its labor-day weekend and I diden't even go out and do anything (spend serious money). Who wants to go out and do something alone on a holiday :silly: or with another bachelor and see strange faces all around. Instead the widower is starting another project, as if I need another.

Dude a 135 gallon for $200 used? Way overpriced! I picked up mine brand new for $212.00 out the door with glass tops and hinges. And they rush ordered it for me. My LFS also had a custom stand made and everything came out to $410.00 after tax! For $2500 I'm buying 3x 135gal with stands and canopies, 1x 100 gal tall, 1x 90 tall, 1x 45 hex, 1x 35 hex, 10x 10 gal, 10x 20gal, 10x 30gal, 75 foam air driven bio filters, a MASSIVE air pump for up to 50 tanks(basically a fish safe air compressor), 3 emperor 400 HOB filters, 5-10 smaller HOB filters, a breeded pair of angelfish, a few pairs of breeded fancy guppies, and like 10 heaters and light hoods of various sizes. So ya, that's too expensive IMO.

Well its probubly cause you live in Fishville USA, everybody has a tank right so your prices are better, but I still would not have paid $212 even if the tank was new and it was 160 gallons. My last stand for my 210 tank cost me less then $25 to build out of solid pine, so Ill probubly be spending less on the stand for this tank. Total investment for this 160 tank and stand should be lass then $125.
:thm:

Wow, that's a good deal. Like I said tho it was a custom made solid pine stand made to my specs and they rush shipped it to me too. I'm sure I could find a better price but this shop did everything they could to help me. Not to mention all of the bay area stores quoted me almost $3000!!! For the same setup! Fish markup is ridiculous! My next tank is gonna cost me about $2000 OTD but it's an 8ft long 360 gallon glass reef ready with another custom made stand to hold my 135 gallon tank as a sump.

Just wow... that's an intense tank list there. Seems like it would be a full time job just to keep all that running!

Haha, ya a lot of stuff! I'm prolly not gonna set it all up, but the breeding setup and the larger or strange tanks will def be put to good use. I don't know, knowing me I'll prolly set it all up haha. Already takes a whole day doing water changes and filter cleanings if I do all in the same day. Sometimes I get lazy an do half one day half the next. Gotta keep them fishies happy

I definitely have found that you can spend any amount of money you want to on this aquarium. I too try to buy things on the cheap. I get most of my fish and plants from aquarium club auctions. I got a great deal on a 75 gallon aquarium on craigslist.

Tell me about it, I got a quote on my end all be all aquarium (I know there is bigger out there but this is the biggest I will get) for $29,000 for the aquarium by itself. Its a 2000 gallon acrylic 11ftx5ftx5ft. Unfortunately I can't find one used like that tho.
