years ago we had an old tv that the close captioning went bad on and it would sometimes, with out warning, display random characters in random colors. This happened when one of my brothers ( he was probably about 8 ) was watching tv. I had him convinced that it was aliens speaking to each other through the tv and since he saw it he was going to be abducted. The poor kid slept with his light on for weeks...and I was grounded for much much longer
