Banded Kuhli Spawning Activity Noted; Advice needed.

Still no fry yet. Either that or the Red Claw Macro I just took out had one heck of a feast these last few weeks.

A few weeks ago I added some Najas Grass I got for free. Need I say more...

There is still a Gravid Kuhlii.

The variety I keep are the so called Giant Kuhilii (Pangio kuhli myersi)

Any idea on how long the guestation period is til the laying of the eggs?
And How long of a period from laying/fertilization to hating out?

I would have thought that 2 months now would have been long enough to have found at least some fry.:wall:

Thanks for helpin'

Best wishes,
Wes

Good move on removing the crab. I know nothing about them but most animals will eat eggs or fry if they can. Maybe some frozen foods like shaved bloodworms, cyclops or daphnia would help get them in the mood. Any more "vibrating cuddles"?

It was actually a Shrimp. Yes, we have seen a lot of "vibrating cuddles".

We, feed them live black worm regularly as well as dried blood worms, dried daphnia, Flakes, frozen cyclops. I rotate those around for a "balanced" menue. Neither do I feed them every day either.

The RCS population is somewhare around 75.

The tank is a 20 Long and it is very heavily planted. (wish my camera worked.)

Best wishes,
Wes

Oops, I only have RCS lol, still a good move. I wonder if the RCS would eat eggs, seems like they might get at least some.

One would think Some Fry would survive. :)

I mean Giant Kuhli Lay about 10,000 egga at a wack. :eek3:

Best wishes,

On the food side for fry I would guess some type of micro worm (banana, walter or micro) and baby brine shrimp. The worms tend to stay toward the bottom. You might be able to use frozen bbs - not sure if their fry need movement to induce feeding. Keep us posted - would love to get some of them if you have a bunch!

That's the idea ... :headbang2:

They seem hard to come by here in the Cleveland Area.

I only have 7 now.

It took me about 8 months to get that many.

Best wishes,
Wes
