cleaning wild hydrilla?

I got myself a bunch of hydrilla from a park. How should I go about cleaning it?

Just toss it and kill it, get something else, it is a terrible weed and should not be used in the hobby, try Egeria najas instead.

It's not, though it may be considered to be one by some who don't know better.

Hydrilla is also banned throughout the US (on the Fed ban list) as a noxious weed.
