Kash do you believe UN??
Why did you protect yourself?
UN: If I had a better read on who hangs out in the scumden, I'd be able to answer that as 100% yes or no. So I will say yes... but make it more like an 80% yes with about 20% doubt factored in.
Self-protection: It occurred to me as I read it from the mod during nightfall, the scum team reaction would be.... who would've hit Labby out of nowhere like that? (Imagined swear words omitted.. lol.)
Looking at it that way names like JB or Kashta seemed kind of obvious. So I realized... ah crap, that dose probably had my name written all over it. They're bound to suspect me as the doctor who injected her. (JB's status at the time still unknown... to me anyway.) Figured I'd just tipped them off by dosing her like that. So yes, there was no doubt I'd be on their short list then. I don't imagine it took them more than half an hour or so to pick me as their next target.
Also... I learned something else about my role that wasn't stated in the rules, specifically. (Had to PM the mod to ask this.) If I get turned before I could use the 2nd dose... the evils would also get that along with me on their side. Basically, I'd just switch from being an innocent doctor working for the town to being an evil doctor working against them. My power to protect won't go with me, of course... but as an evil and being loyal to their team if I'm turned, I'd have to inject an innocent with my 2nd dose.
As my loyalty rests with the current team I'm on at any given time... really, I'm bound by that. So knowing all this meant I need to do the best I can to prevent the evils from turning me, nullifying the protection I give, AND getting their hands on Dose #2.
Imagine a nightfall with a town lynch maybe killing an innocent >> no protection on anyone >> an evil doctor dosing an innocent >> an evil hit killing/turning another innocent >> etc... Yikes! That would be devastating to the team I'm on now.
Then User Name came along...
The evils would naturally assume the doctor would protect him, just in case he was telling the truth. That meant I would leave myself vulnerable... so my turn/death would have been a sure thing in their minds. They didn't expect me to protect myself. Probably had no reason to even wonder whether or not I would at that point.
I didn't assume the scum would know as much about what my powers could do for them as I'd figured out and verified already. But they surely know killing or turning me would negate protection against their hit and prevent me from dosing them if I didn't use the 2nd one yet... if nothing else. Since they know User's role (presumably accurate), I'm the only thing (possibly) standing in their way to take him out whenever they choose.
It just makes more sense for them to kill/turn the doctor first... which they need to do anyway.... THEN go after User and whoever else they pick, one nightfall after another.
I protected myself because I guessed they were already onto me (which they were) and figured I was a better target for them.
