Eheim 2211 or Aqua Clear 50?

I didn't have room to put a canister under my 29 gallon so I went with an Aquaclear 50 and it it works great. It was way cheaper as well. For smaller tanks I just don't see the point of a canister filter. Just my opinion.

Depends on what you want - silence and extra filtration, or ease of use? *shrugs* They make different filters because we don't all have the same needs and wants in our hobby.

The canister must win out here becasue it has more positive displacement filtration then a Power filter so I suppose given only two choices Ehiem wins out.
Quite frankly however for the price of just one Eheim 2211, you could buy what in my opinion is a much better filter for capacity, surface area performance and better design at only half the price of an Eheim 2211. The Sunsun HW 302 for only $36.45, what a filter. Of course you could always buy two which would be a slam-dunk. :drool:

I'll second that suggestion. I've got 2 Sunsun (or Perfect) filters and plan to get at least one more.
