Adopting an African Grey Parrot

we have a 9 year old grey. he's such a brat some times but so sweet at others.
he looooves Nutri Berries, grapes and cherry tomates. he's frightend to death of floating balloons.
it night not take to you right away, especially if you dont use the same words as the previous owner. up/come , down/go , no/stop.
stuff like that seems like it would confuse a bird.

I had a cockatiel years ago. all parrots will eat anything that you are eating, just stay away from things with lots of fat, processed sugar, salt, and chemicals.

Also, be careful using teflon/nonstick cookware in your house. Overheated teflon can release fumes that will kill a parrot. Don't use air fresheners either.

I once made a jungle gym out of branches from the oak tree in my front yard and left the leaves still on it. After I washed it and scrubbed the wood, he had loads of fun picking all the leaves off.

Be prepared to care for a small child for the next 50 or so years. I just don't have the patience for it, but good luck to you :)
Thanks for the advice, they are quite the undertaking :)

I am expecting to have to work with the little guy for a while to get him situated since he has only ever been with one owner. Thanks for the advice

Any updates on the new addition?
