AR 15 info

$600 got me almost exactly what I wanted and with a lifetime warranty and great customer support reviews I don't see how I could have gone wrong but until I get it apart tonight and find out that the rattling is I'm wondering if it was that great of a buy
 
Well...600 for a colt parts kit is an awesome deal, as typically they run 1200-1500 new.


let me know how you like the one you have, as for the money, I might wind up selling them myself (i have my ffl)

Having spent two years in the fed for making machine guns I know a little about the AR 15 and everything else ... A semi auto 223 makes the whole case for the 223 cal a moot point .. The bigger the bullet the better for semi auto . I would not get a [kit ] as the tools needed to properly head space would off set your savings ... Why bother ?? If you really want a semi auto move up to the M1A thirty cal bucks the wind MUCH better and recoil isn`t a factor in semi auto nor is weight of ammo .. Personally I would go with a bolt gun in 338 lupa ... You arn`t going to fight your way out of anything with a AR ... Better to be selective ... Soon semi autos will be banned and will be under restrictions .Better to be under the radar ...Shooting your way out of something gets you killed no one should ever see you or your gun ... The future is explosives..
 
Colt barrels are no good wrong twist .. The uppers and lowers are put together different and the pin size is different If I remember right [Arlington] machine and tool is by far the best Bushmaster second and I wouldn`t buy any of the others ..
 
I don't want to start a fight....but I have access to a Colt ar 15.

It's barrel is a 1:7 twist i belive It might be a 1:9, either of the two are the standard twist rate for the ar15 platform, and is accurate as all hell. As for different pin sizes etc, I have never had a problem swapping uppers with the Colt parts, nor replacing the inners with any parts kit available.

For headspacing I took mine to a local gun smith, and 30 minutes later it was all set, and cost me 30 bucks to check...soo that wasn't an issue.

He's asking about a AR15, I gave him a suggestion. If he was looking for something in a larger caliber, i would have suggested something else.

The .223 / 5.56 round is more than enough to stop someone in the 200-300 yard range. It's only longer than that were you need more umph, and the .308 shines.

I've shot a m1a/m14/m21 and m1 garand. the recoil of these fine firearms is a bit more than .223/5.56.

The BEST THING about an ar15 in .223....is you can easily convert the gun to shoot .22lr, which makes sighting, and practicing cheaper, while allowing you to actually shoot it often.

if they stop the sales of semi-autos, they can not and will not go after what people already own, and that's if it actually happens....chances are, it wont. If it does, it will probably be in the form of an assult weapons ban again, anything more will be met with great resistance.

Bushmasters are good, RRA is another great company.

However, Colt made it famous, and its colt that will always be the Best IMO
 
If that`s what is good for you that`s cool the early colts were made like the M16 but the later ones take different internals ... and have different pin sizes which makes after market [non Colt]parts impossible to use for one with out machine tools ..I regard the folding stocks to be a waist of time and money if what you want to do id Hit what you are shooting at ...
 
For a larger caliber I already have a .303 enfield and a 7.62 x 54mm mosin nagant that have more than proven themselves, the enfield being a 1916 an still in great condition.

As for the AR I wanted something semi auto that would be relatively cheap to shoot and accurate with parts that are easy to find. For super cheap shooting i break out my Winchester model 250, never had an issue with it and it's accurate as hell

what am i saying...ALL guns are good!

I bought a .22 conversion kit for my ar ( i have a marlin model 60 as well) and have been very pleased by its performance. Its fun being able to go though hundreds of rounds for very low cost.

I'm definitely looking into the .22 conversions along with possibly getting an upper in 6.8 spc later on
 
I used to love to shoot mine also .. I had a colt that was left strictly semi auto ..Nice gun well put together worked fine but I put a heavy bushmaster barrel because as a hand loader [Dillon] I used the heavy bullets ... Im glad you love shooting sports and have your AR shooting like you want doing it beats thinking about it hands down !!
