Do you mean the look or how it grows?

My bud has some in his 90g for a year now and it looks real pretty, and it's easy to control, I would know I do all the trimming in his tank lol.

Look / Growth.. a little of both.
Your tank goes towards the Amano style, very clean and every plant adds to the tanks clean character. The hygro sure is a beautiful plant, ive kept it for years.. partially because it grew no matter what tank conditions were like. But it is a very bold plant, and in your setup (or perhaps location you have it in) once everything fills in, it will probably claim too much attention.

I like the hydro, but when you have co2 and light it will grow crazy fast. When the system is working well it needs weekly pruning.

I like the open rimless top, how bad is the evaporation?

It's pretty bad, it drops at least1/2 to 3/4 of an inch each day lol

You might be right...I needed a fast grower in there tho, I plan on keeping it in that small spot and trimmed tight, if that's the only plant I will trim each week it wont be so bad.
Is there another spot you think it might look better? I saw some hygro in a setup where it looked really nice going down the path adjacently, that's where I got the idea.

The only way you would make the plant look nice in that spot after a trim is if you pull the plant entirely, snip it and replant the tops. At the rate this plant grows you will have to do that trim at least 2x a week. Issue with the hygro when you look at it from the side is that the spacing between the leaves is too much. A more bushy/lush species would do best in your tank. But once again thats just my opinion, its your tank and if you are happy with it then thats all that should ever matter.
Its always great to experiment with plants and just because you start with 10 species doesnt mean that in the end all will remain. Its all about trial and error.

True, if they get pink I think I'll keep em but for now they are just in there as a nutrient sponge.

Ammonia is coming down a bit, hopefully by next weekend I can start stocking

A little gsa but I don't mind gsa it looks natural to me. BBA on the other hand I HATE which was on some of the Crypt Retrospiralis and the Erio's tips.
They had that growing in the 55 tho it didn't start in this tank. The bba is dying tho which I like:headbang2:
Other than that ther is a bit of Diotomes kicking in, at least there will be some food for the ottos

25 rummies, 10 ottos, 6 roseline sharks, bn plec, 6 chain loaches, 10 amano shrimp and 50 rcs!

Update!

So I put in 8 ottos,15 RCS on Saturday, Lost one Otto but he was just a lil thing and didn't look too healthy:icon_frow Parameters are good plus I've been doing 3+ Water changes a week but I'm adding fish slowly.

I still have my lights on for a seven hour photo period and dosing EI, getting some staghorn and bba algae on the melting leaves of which I have a LOT on every single plant.

Every plant is shedding off the old neglected and growing new in it's place. I'm hoping no new algae will show on the new growth.

The UG is transferring just GREAT!!!
This stuff is super easy growing emerssed, going emerssed-submersed is just as easy it seems!

You can't tell from the pic but the ERIO's are doing great also! new growth is super green but the old nodes are dying and algae ridden.
