I did a 50 percent water change in my betta aquarium. The aquarium was absolutely clear until recently, I now notice a clear slime has coated the entire tank. It's also noticeable on my bettas fins. When I changed the water I did not have any declorinator so I used a vitamin C tablet I heard it removes both the chlorine and chloramines.

I'm thinking about changing the water agian, but I'm not sure if the slime will come back.

A thin layer of biofilm, which feels a bit slimy, naturally develops on everything in a tank. Also, fish produce a protective layer called the slime coat. When you say you notice slime on your betta's fins, what does it look like ... Are the fins turning white, looking cottony, trailing something?? Please post pics.

Also, vitamin C may remove chlorine/chloramine (?), but who knows what it's doing to your water quality/fish. Much better to stock up on water conditioner. The most often recommended one, Seachem Prime, doses at 2 drops per gallon, so it lasts a long time.

:nono:Vitamin C is L-ascorbic acid or L-ascorbate, a main ingredient for Vit C tablets but check the bottle for other active/inactive ingredients.

Shouldnt use Vit C TABLETs to Neutralize oxidants (Cl2, etc, etc) directly into tank, IMHO.
