Coffee Table Aquarium

That is really cool! Not sure if the lighting could support it, but if it were a planted tank with some cardinals, that would be awesome! You'd have to be really careful not to place your table where the sun shines in, which isn't as easy when it's not along the wall. I'm kind of curious how all the electrical stuff is hidden...

awsome bro! im scared of having a coffee table for the fact that i bump my coffee table to much lol.. but dude you just gave me an idea for my 55..... dangflabit lol..... idk. already got the stand for it so maybe ill make a coffee table with another tank lol.

pretty cool. I think I may try to sneak a new tank in on my wife with one of these. Could you give me some specifics on how you did the filtration?

I show exactly how i did the filter in the tutorial. The filter is actually a new Fluidized bed filter i recently designed.

Lighting is not meant for much more then aesthetics. I dont plan to have plants, or anything other then a goldfish in this tank. Im not taking the layout or stocking seriously at all. Just a novelty tank really. If i had the lighting about the tank, it would look horrible. At least on this design.

Light is only on for a couple hours a day. Tank is in direct sunlight for a couple hours as well. Nothing negative yet.

This tank is made from 12mm acrylic... i can bump it all i want. I have two small children, so they were the reason for the thickness. There's no way they'll damage this tank.

Other ideas for you 55gal, besides a coffee table:
Desk/computer desk
Bed headboard
room divider
bottomless aquarium
Ideas are endless....

The bubbling would drive me nuts!

It drove me nuts as well! i recently fixed it though. Smaller holes was all that was needed.

your a handy guy for sure! wish you were my neighbor lol

awesome! I have seen plenty of tanks that looked good without being planted so I wouldn't deduct any points for that, it looks great! I also agree that a school of tetras would look amazing but that will make a goldfish very happy i'm sure :) Great job!
