steelerfan's 30 Gallon Breeder Journal/Build

Since there is nothing in the QT I would add another 10 drops. Then let it be for a few days while testing. Thats what I did with my 20L.

will do bud,

will go ahead and add 10 more in the morning.

yeah i had seen a pic of 1 in someones tank and never knew what it was until divers den had 1 listed 1 day.

supposedly have quite a personality.

the wife and i saw a yellow spotted jawfish at lfs when i get the crab and she wanted to buy it for me then but reading up they are bad jumpers and don't have a very high survival rate so i think the blenny will be a nice consolation prize.

That blenny is a very cool one and very suitable for your tank. Great choice for a first fish and also good choice not getting the jawfish for the reason you mentioned.

thanks ace,

do you know if they eat hair algae?

wanted to get it out of there, but if the red spot eats it i will leave it in there for him.

loved the blue spot but just wouldn't be fair to the little guy. wife gave me the sad face :-)

just got todays divers den update:

Potential Items for Today's Diver's Den:
Fish
Orange Spotted Blenny

hope he can slip another week or so so the qt gets ready.

Ha... my wife wanted to get me a painted Trigger Fish this last weekend... lol... good thing she waited...

yeah, the wife seems to pick out not only fish that are 10,000 dollars, but the ones who also get to be about 2 feet long :-)

In theory, they are supposed to eat hair algae.. reality is, more seem to get quickly trained to eating food you put in the tank vs eat algae. When first introduced they seem to do ok with algae for a month or 2, but most of the ones I have had stop eating algae on the rocks after they realize I feed the tank daily.

I see those come up often on Divers Den.. problem is you have to pay $45 shipping on a $40-$50 fish.

thanks ace,

i will leave the algae in tank for now, but since the little guy will be in the qt so he can learn to eat the food we give he may not even show interest in it by the time he gets to main tank.

if he doesn't then the turbo will come into the picture :-)

yeah the shipping stinks but i have a guy i know local who knows some reefers in the city and they normally get an order at LA and divers den in a group type of thing where everything ships to 1 address and most of the time they get enough for the free shipping.

hoping maybe to go that route.

ammonia in qt tank was still at .50 this morning with 0 nitrite.

added 10 more drops of ammonia to hopefully get to 2PPM this time.
