I think anyone who has been in fishkeeping knows they're deformed. I was pointing out that purchasing such fish perpetuates the problem of more and more deformed fish being created. If there wasn't a market for them they wouldn't be bred. It's not "rescuing" a fish, it's promoting and supporting the commercial industry responsible for creating deformed fish. The same as buying a betta in a tiny cup; there is no "rescue" there yet people like to fool themselves into thinking they're doing something good. All they're doing is creating business and allowing another betta to be in the same crappy situation. Just like puppy mills. The only way to make a difference is to not buy deformed/tattooed/poorly cared for fish from stores. I will encourage people (you included) to not buy deformed fish. You can take it or leave it.
