Names ray, got into fish aquarium hobby couple months ago and have spent a lot of time. (time is money right?)

Anyways, here is a few pics of the history of my fish tank from day 1 till today. Please comment, I would like to know what my tank looks like in other peoples eyes and not just mine. Any comments, suggestions, and or questions you have feel free to post. I would like to learn more about plants/fish as I go, and I would not mind helping you out if you got a question too! Your buddy, RAY! ENJOY!!

p.s. my cellphone picture/video quality sucks, i know, so don't ask =]

Hi,Welcome to AC!

Tank looks nice, but I have to ask what are your long term plans for all those angels?
Before too long, that tank is going to be way too small for them all!

And if they start to pair off, you might have some agression to deal with.

+1

I would keep only a pair in there or just 1. Otherwise looks great, except for the gravel, well its JMO, bc I am more of a natural fish tank person:)

petco sells eco-complete black for $16 per bag:)20lbs, and black makes the plants and fish look much better;)

Welcome to AC!

*Everything that follows is strictly my opinion only* Always get 2nd, 3rd and 27th opinions in this hobby and do lots of research.

**Like**
~Natural substrate!! (Flourite maybe?)
~Moss string, creative idea
~The LOOK of all those angels, but even so they will need to find new homes eventually for the reasons already stated
~Tank looks clean, clear and healthy
~And of course I like the fact that you are here with us! :)

**Suggestions**
~Find future homes for angels and goldfish. Goldfish get up to a foot long, prefer cooler waters than tropical fish, are very messy, plant nibblers/uprooters and they poop a lot
~Add a black background and tuck heater behind plants
~Plant the stems in groups it looks more natural (as in seen in nature and to the eye)
~Add some depth by using wood or rocks and plants of different heights

What are the specs of the tank? Tank size, lighting, fertilizers, CO2, livestock etc. It looks like you have a standard light strip on the tank, if so your going to have trouble keeping most plants alive for very long, especially your new groundcover plant (possibly HC?). What fish is in the video, in the bottom left corner? Kinda looks like it might be a Chinese algae eater which get large and as they do they stop eating algae and become aggressive.

You can clearly see by your progression pictures that you are moving in the right direction and the tank looks better with ever picture! Keep up the good work and know now that you will always be learning something new in this hobby and that it is very addicting!! :D

Im waiting for the angels to be a bit bigger then a quarter and then put them up for adoption by living and caring owners just as how I started off.

I have an inch of substrate/gravel and an inch of florite. The java moss I didnt know where to put it and didnt want to restrict them under fishing line so I made a string.
This is a 30 gallilon tank, I have 2 24 watt t5 bulbs custom mounted to my old hood. One white and one pruple. No fertilizers I dont think, what should I do? No co2 yet, and tank has a bunch of angels, chinese algae eater, 2 plecos and a few unidentifiable fish. As far as the progression, it wont stop improving.

i think making more of those strings with moss on them and hanging them kind of like that but swooping down and going in different directions would look cool and you could make it jungle themed with thick growth in the back and some short grassy plants as a carpet.

Good idea but I ran out of moss and im trying to have tall plants in back, sone grass looking plants in the middle area infront of the tall plants and then hc in the front. I might go fishing at a local lake and grab some wood/plants in the water and see how they do in my tank maybe!
