steelerfan's 30 Gallon Breeder Journal/Build

I would go with the flowers, getting her a caddy would just make another car you have to do maintenance on.

Not to mention it would cut deeper into the aquarium budget. :lipssealedsmilie:

Hey steeler, I didn't read the whole thread, and I was wandering if you've set up he sump yet. If so, how did you do it?

Tank sounds good, can't wait until fish are in. :)

yeah, i think the caddy is out of reach at this time, so i may try some flowers. she is actually sweating the no fish more than i am right now.

on the bright side ammonia in qt is at 0, so another baby step for me :-)

hi spencer,

not planning any sump at all as i wanted to keep this as simple and technology free as possible.

i just pretend that my ac110 is a 1 gallon sump and keep my stuff in there as well as clean it weekly.

Oh, ok, thx!I just needed some info cuz I'm gonna set up a10 gal nano reef soon. I'll do something like that. :)

so after the lfs store tested my tank and top off water a bit ago with my top off water in the brute showing high phosphates and my tank lower i decided to hold off on water changesa bit although still using the ro/di from brute to top off.

algae appeared to go down a bit without water change and sinc ei just did 1 a few days ago it looks like i have more algae growing that without thewater change.

not sure if this 100% proves that the ro/di water in the brute does indeed have a good amount of phosphates or not but i find it interesting.

any ideas on what i could try?

should i return brute for a new 1?

should i try keeping a real polyfilter in the brute bucket even though i don't have any flow in the brute and water is just sitting in there?

should i try leaving a bag of rowa in the brute?

Following this Steeler... I keep my water in a brute as well. Haven't check it for phosphates. Maybe I should do that. I did start using a 20 gallon tank for my ATO., but I fill that with water from the brute. I don't have an algae out break yet... maybe my tank is till too young yet???
