Stumped on what fish to get for my tank

I am totally stumped on what fish to get for my 26 gallon tank. It currently has the stocking in my sig:

1 flying fox
2 Dalmatian mollies
4 Dalmatian molly fry

My 10g is going to have some free space soon (3 rummynose tetras and cories moving out to a new home) so maybe 1-2 dalmatian mollies could go in there? This would bring the Mollies in the 26 gallon down too 4.

So I hope to have enough room in my 26 gallon for a nice centre piece fish, full of personality and fun to watch :D but as I said, I am stumped as to what that 'nice centre piece fish' is. I know I don't want a gourami, simply because I am not into pearls etc. I don't have access to rams of any species also, which doesn't help. To end this I will ask a question that has been bugging me (it was in one of my books) apparently there is a discus that only reaches 4.5 inches?

so yeah, throw me some ideas :D

all discus that I know of get to at least 8 inches in diameter, and need to be kept in schools. personally, in your tank, the mollies seem like they might be the centerpieces after you add a school of fish (if you want to)

ok, I was just wondering and was already aware that they wouldn't go in my tank. It was just a question that had been bugging me. well, my plan was to have the mollies as the sort of school :/ I'll look into that thanks.

shell dwellers aren't an option I am afraid as I can't actually find them :/ I'll see if I could get an apistogramma species *sticks that on options list*

Sorry if I sound extremly ignorant AAF, but 2 three inch fish in a ten gallon along with a guppy doesn't seem overstocked at all, sorry but thats just my opinion :(
 
I agree with AAF... I've seen mollies hit around 5 inches. No less then a 20 if you ask me. :) And sparkxx, is ordering online an option?

again, not to sound ignorant. But I think your talking about sailfin mollies, which do reach 5 inches, dalmatian mollies hit 3 inches :) And nope not an option I'm afraid :(
 
sorry, I didn't notice that in your first comment :( anyways, I think my flying fox would rip the flowing fins of one. but I do like the apisto idea ;)
 
if you're just worried about the long fins, you could try a shorter-finned betta, like a female or a male plakat. petco and petland both often carry females, and depending on the quality of the stores around you, they may also carry plakats. veiltails or spadetails may be alright, I've never had trouble with other fish nipping them. definitely avoid halfmoons, double tails, and the like though.
